Healthy treats to put in a Kong Toy

Updated: Oct 19, 2020

So, you've purchased a wonderful Kong toy for your dog, which I think is one of the must have - puppy essentials, but what can you put in it?

Below are some great ideas of healthy treats that you can stuff in your dogs Kong:

Apples (without core, stem, or seeds)

Asparagus

Baby Food (natural)

Bananas

Blackberries (will stain – use with caution)

Blueberries (will stain – use with caution)

Broccoli

Brussels Sprouts

Sliced Carrots

Cauliflower

Celery

Cheese (in moderation)

Cottage Cheese

Cucumber

Eggs (cooked)

Green Beans

Honey (in moderation due to high sugar content)

Kale

Oatmeal

Oranges (in moderation)

Peanut Butter (we use organic)

Peas

Pineapple (fresh)

Pumpkin (we cook/ cut up in cubes)

Rice (cooked)

Salmon

Spinach

Squash

Steak

Strawberries

Sugar Snap Peas

Sweet Potato (cooked-steamed)

Watermelon (seedless)

Yogurt (plain, lowfat)

Zucchini

We pop natural yoghurt in the Kong treat toy and a few of our dogs favourite natural treats (as listed above) We then pop the Kong in the freezer for about one hour. This will make it more of a challenge for your puppy/dog to get the treats out of the Kong, which will also increase play time and entertainment. For those who are time poor, try the Kong Easy Treat Stuffing.
